The Back 2 School Blast event will be on Monday, August 12, 2013. We need many volunteers to help with this event! In 2012, there were 253 volunteers on hand to help with book bag distribution, foot washing, haircuts, crowd control, face painting, school physicals & immunizations, and information distribution.

The volunteer needs for 2013 include:
Hair Stylist (need 40); Need licensed (or students under the direction of an instructor) hair stylists to cut hair. Responsibilities include: bringing your own supplies (cape, combs & disinfectant, spray bottle, scissors, razor w/ extension cord, etc.); set-up your station; cutting hair (dry or spray bottle damp cuts); keep site clean and inviting; clean up area, pack up materials. Time commitment is 4-8pm.
Hair Stylist Monitor and Runners (need 5): Need volunteers to assist the stylists. Responsibilities include: directing students to stylists on a first-come, first served basis; recording the # of heads cut; assisting stylists in between cuts to keep the line moving by sweeping and disposing of trash; keep site clean and inviting; clean up area. Time commitment is 4-8pm.
Face Painters (need 20): Need artistic volunteers to paint the faces of children. Responsibilities include: set-up work table with supplied paint and materials; use your talent and paint small items on faces of children; keep site clean and inviting; clean up area, and pack up materials. Time commitment is 3:30pm-7:15pm.
Foot Washers (need 50): Need volunteers to sit one on one with the children to wash their feet, place new socks/shoes on their feet, share God’s love and pray for them; keep site clean, organized and inviting; clean up area. If you would like to bring a stadium chair cushion to sit on, please bring one. A required training session will begin promptly at 3:30pm, so please be on time! Time commitment is 3:15pm (check-in) – 8pm.
Runners/Checkers for Foot Washers (need 50): Need volunteers to assist for shoe giveaway. Responsibilities may include: checking children in, sizing their feet, directing children to open foot washer, replenishing fresh water in basins, selecting shoes for the children, distributing and setting up the shoe distribution area, keep site clean and organized. A training session will begin promptly at 3:30pm, so please be on time! Time commitment is 3:15pm (check-in) – 8pm.
